Bluesound NODE NANO N030 Wireless Music Streamer - Black

$599.00

The Bluesound NODE NANO N030 is a compact wireless music streamer designed to add BluOS hi-res streaming to an existing stereo, amplifier or powered speaker system without unnecessary extras. It uses an ESS SABRE ES9039Q2M DAC and supports PCM up to 24-bit / 192 kHz and DSD256, with analogue RCA, optical, coaxial and USB audio outputs.

AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect with Spotify Lossless support, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Roon Ready and two-way aptX Adaptive Bluetooth provide plenty of ways to listen, while BluOS makes it easy to integrate the NANO into a wider multi-room system.

For listeners who want Bluesound's mature streaming platform and a capable DAC in the smallest, simplest NODE, the NODE NANO is a straightforward entry point into the BluOS ecosystem.

A Closer Look At The Bluesound NODE NANO...

Overview

The NODE NANO is the smallest and most streamlined member of Bluesound's current NODE family. It is designed primarily as a dedicated streaming source for an existing Hi-Fi system, powered speakers or an external DAC, giving listeners access to BluOS without paying for the extra inputs, HDMI connectivity, headphone amplifier or room-correction features found further up the range.

At the heart of the NANO is the ESS SABRE ES9039Q2M DAC, the same DAC family used across Bluesound's current NODE generation. It supports PCM playback up to 24-bit / 192 kHz and DSD256, with Bluesound specifying THD+N of 0.0007%. The analogue RCA output can be used at fixed level into a conventional amplifier or with variable volume control for compatible powered speakers and power amplifiers.

Connectivity is deliberately focused on getting streamed or locally stored digital music out to your system. Alongside the stereo RCA output are coaxial and optical digital outputs for use with an external DAC, plus USB Audio 2.0 output. The USB-A connection can also be used with compatible external storage, allowing locally stored music to be indexed through BluOS. Gigabit Ethernet and dual-band Wi-Fi 5 provide the main network connections.

BluOS remains one of the NANO's strongest features. The platform supports more than 20 music services and internet radio, along with Spotify Connect with Spotify Lossless support, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Apple AirPlay 2 and Roon Ready integration. Compatible network libraries can be accessed over SMB, and multiple Bluesound or other BluOS-enabled products can be grouped for multi-room playback from the same app.

Bluetooth 5.2 with aptX Adaptive operates in both directions. That means the NODE NANO can receive audio from a compatible Bluetooth source or transmit to compatible Bluetooth headphones. There is no wired headphone socket, but the two-way Bluetooth implementation gives the NANO a useful wireless headphone option without adding another physical output.

The compact 143 mm square chassis is only 36 mm high and weighs 0.57 kg, so it can sit comfortably beside an amplifier, on a desktop or in a smaller system where space is limited. A backlit touch panel provides play / pause, volume and two programmable presets, while IR learning and a 3.5 mm IR input provide additional control options. A 12V trigger is also included for compatible system integration.

The simplicity is intentional. Unlike the larger NODE, the NANO does not include HDMI eARC, analogue or optical source inputs, a wired headphone amplifier or Dirac Live. If you need to connect a TV, turntable, CD player or other source through the streamer, the full-size NODE is the more suitable choice. If the goal is simply to add high-quality BluOS streaming to an existing system, those omissions help keep the NANO compact and straightforward.

From a Groove Central perspective, the NODE NANO makes the most sense for listeners who already have an amplifier, powered speakers or DAC they are happy with and want to add a mature, easy-to-use streaming platform without replacing the rest of the system. It also works well as an affordable way to add another zone to an existing BluOS setup while keeping the same app, services and multi-room control.

Bluesound NODE NANO N030 FAQ

What is the Bluesound NODE NANO designed for?

The NODE NANO is designed to add BluOS network streaming to an existing stereo system, amplifier, powered speakers or external DAC. It focuses on streaming and audio output rather than providing the wider range of source inputs found on the larger NODE models.

How does the NODE NANO differ from the standard NODE?

The NODE NANO is smaller and more streamlined. It keeps BluOS, the ESS ES9039Q2M DAC, RCA and digital outputs, high-resolution playback and two-way Bluetooth, but omits HDMI eARC, analogue and optical source inputs, Dirac Live and the wired THX AAA headphone amplifier found on the larger NODE.

Can I connect the NODE NANO directly to an amplifier?

Yes. Its stereo RCA output can operate at fixed level into a conventional integrated amplifier or preamplifier. It can also use variable volume control with compatible powered speakers or power amplifiers.

Can I use the NODE NANO with an external DAC?

Yes. Optical, coaxial and USB digital audio outputs allow the NODE NANO to work as a dedicated network transport feeding a compatible external DAC.

Can I connect a TV to the NODE NANO?

Not directly through HDMI. The NODE NANO has no HDMI eARC input and is primarily designed as a music streaming source. If TV integration is important, the larger Bluesound NODE is the better fit.

Does the NODE NANO support Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz and Roon?

Yes. It supports Spotify Connect with Spotify Lossless support, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect and is Roon Ready. Apple AirPlay 2 and the wider selection of services available through BluOS are also supported.

Does the NODE NANO support high-resolution and DSD playback?

Yes. It supports PCM playback up to 24-bit / 192 kHz and DSD up to DSD256, depending on the source and playback method.

Can I use Bluetooth headphones with the NODE NANO?

Yes. Its two-way Bluetooth connection can transmit audio to compatible Bluetooth headphones. There is no wired headphone socket.

Can the NODE NANO receive Bluetooth audio?

Yes. Bluetooth 5.2 with aptX Adaptive operates in both directions, so the NANO can receive audio from a compatible Bluetooth source as well as transmit to compatible Bluetooth headphones.

Can I connect a USB drive?

Yes. The USB-A connection supports compatible FAT32 external storage and local server mode, allowing stored music to be accessed through BluOS.

Can I add a subwoofer?

The NODE NANO can connect wirelessly to the Bluesound PULSE SUB+. It does not have a dedicated wired RCA subwoofer output.

Does the NODE NANO include a handheld remote?

No dedicated remote is supplied. Control is primarily through the BluOS Controller app and front touch controls. The NANO also includes IR learning and a 3.5 mm IR input for compatible remote-control integration.

Who is the NODE NANO best suited to?

It is particularly well suited to listeners who already have a stereo amplifier, powered speakers or external DAC and simply want to add a compact, mature streaming platform. It is also a practical way to add another room to an existing BluOS multi-room system.
