The JBL L42ms brings the heritage and aesthetic of JBL’s Classic Series into a compact, modern all-in-one music system designed for today’s living spaces. With its curved front baffle, tapered edges, and signature Quadrex foam grille, the L42ms pays tribute to JBL’s iconic loudspeaker designs of the 1970s. Behind this vintage-inspired exterior lies a highly capable audio platform engineered at the Harman Center of Acoustics Excellence in Northridge, California.

Built around a four-driver stereo array, the L42ms uses dual 4-inch pure pulp cone woofers for articulate bass and midrange weight, paired with dual 0.75-inch aluminum dome tweeters with waveguides for extended, detailed treble. The drivers are powered by a 200 Watts RMS Class D amplifier — 75W to each woofer and 25W to each tweeter — with DSP optimisation ensuring a clean, wide soundstage and impressive dynamic headroom for a system of this size.

Streaming is seamless thanks to built-in AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and full Roon Ready integration. The JBL Premium Audio app offers access to internet radio, podcasts, and major streaming platforms including TIDAL, Qobuz, Deezer and more. High-resolution formats up to 24-bit/96 kHz are supported via network streaming, giving listeners access to studio-quality playback in a sleek, easy-to-use system.

For physical sources, the L42ms includes HDMI ARC for TV audio (PCM 2-channel), stereo RCA inputs, a 3.5 mm analog input, and a subwoofer output with auto-sense and an 80 Hz high-pass filter for seamless integration with compact powered subs. Optional tuning tools — including a Sound Field Expander (SFX) and Bass Contour switch — allow the system to be tailored to room placement or personal preference.
