MMX 300 (2nd Gen)'s Compatibility and FAQs ...

Does the MMX 300 work with PS5/XBOX Series X?

Yes, the MMX 300 works with the PS5 and the XBOX Series X. You can use the jack on the controller for this. Keep in mind that the MMX 300 is a passive headphone and the maximum volume depends on the performance of the built-in sound card. Therefore, different maximum volumes can occur depending on which platform you play on. With the PS5 controller, it is noticeable that normal jack plugs are slightly looser than usual. This can be observed in a wide variety of products with standard plugs. The result is that the plug can slip out a bit, which can lead to a disconnection of the microphone connection.

Do I need an audio interface to use the MMX 300?

In a computer, at least an on-board sound card with analog microphone and headphone connector is necessary. In many cases, such a standard solution already works perfectly fine. An external audio interface is recommended under some circumstances. It is not necessary in every application or with every device. We recommend to test the headset with the intergrated soundcard. If you are not happy with the result, you can still upgrade to a better soundcard. Several gaming consoles allow the direct connection of a headset to their controller.

Which headphones are most comparable to the MMX 300 2nd Generation?

Of the beyerdynamic headphones, the DT 770 PRO in the 32 Ohm variant corresponds most closely to the MMX 300. The other variants of the DT 770 PRO do not correspond to the MMX 300 in terms of sound and electrical quality.

What is the difference between the MMX 100, MMX 150 and MMX 300?

The MMX 100 is an analog headset, while the MMX 150 is a USB headset with an integrated sound card. We answer when which headset is best under “When should I choose the MMX 100 and when should I choose the MMX 150?”. The acoustic tuning is identical for both headset models and the design is almost the same. Like the MMX 100, the MMX 300 is a purely analog headset. The MMX 300 is manufactured at the Heilbronn location with an acoustic driver, which we also manufacture ourselves at the beyerdynamic headquarter. The workmanship and acoustics are therefore on an even higher level. The sound characteristics of the MMX 300 have a little more presence in the treble and a more analytical sound. The MMX 100 and MMX 150 are a bit more bass emphasized than the MMX 300.
